Are trend wines really trendy? Or is the trend moving towards looking for wines that are not trendy? But what is "not trendy"? Classical, traditional, original, or even half forgotten? Questions upon questions to which there is ultimately no concrete answer. The world of wine and beverages is far too multifaceted for this. No matter whether it is from the consumers' point of view, from the retailers and caterers' point of view or from the producers' point of view.
Trends are as diverse as the world we live in. What is a trend for some is a standard for others. Trends are perceived very differently, depending on the environment in which you move in. Are we talking about a trend that is becoming established in the area of mass markets, or a trend in gastronomy? Are we talking about trendy gastronomy in the capital city or traditional country cuisine? Are we talking about home-style or star cuisine? Are we talking about Germany or about other countries as well?
Combining all of this would be bordering on scientific work. But for me, wine and good drinks generally have a more enjoyable background, not a dry scientific one. This is how the idea of letting many people have their say and showing their very own view of current trends was born - the idea of demonstrating the variety of trends in the diverse world of wine. You can look forward to the comments of national and international colleagues!
