La Collina dei Ciliegi is proud to announce that the new Amarone 2011, gold medallist at Berliner Wine Trophy 2015 and at MUNDUS VINI 2015 only few weeks ago, can be tasted this week end in Düsseldorf (ProWein, Halle 15 – Stand 15 A 41).
The weather, during summer 2011, was very hot in all the North of Italy. The quite total absence of rain for many weeks, caused a great stress to the grapes of all the Valpolicella region (the winery is located in Erbin (Verona), in the heart of Valpolicella, the most important wine region of the North of Italy). For that reason it was necessary to work hard in the countryside to help the plants to resist during all the month of august.
Fortunately, in September, the weather dramatically changed and the rains gave a big relief to the grapes.
Nonetheless the maturation is arrived fifteen days earlier the prevision (same date in 2007). And the harvest was finished before September 27th.
But fortunately the result of this hard job was really great. And the new vintage of Amarone has an amazing personality and flavors very elegant.
Amarone 2011 by La Collina dei Ciliegi has a intense and deep red colour.
The nose is mineral, with clear note of black cherry, blackberry and blueberry, followed by notes of black pepper, tobacco, green tea, dill and nutmeg.
In the mouth is full. Well balanced between acidity and tannins.
Elegant and long. In the final, the wine has an amazing balsamic note.
