Meet vintners and taste wines from America’s leading wine region
February 1, 2016, St. Helena, CA – The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) nonprofit trade association will celebrate the 35th anniversary of Napa Valley being named California’s first American Viticultural Area (AVA) at this year’s ProWein trade fair, March 13-15 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
NVV will pour wines from more than two dozen of Napa Valley’s most recognized family-owned brands, including Freemark Abbey, Grgich Hills Estate, Inglenook, Silver Oak Cellars, Trefethen Family Vineyards and more. Many of the vintners will travel from California to ProWein to present their wines and lead “Napa Valley Rocks” educational tastings and seminars. With Napa Valley producing just 4 percent of California’s annual premium wine grape harvest, this is a rare opportunity to taste many of these high-quality wines, side-by-side, outside of the United States.
“A staple for international wine business, ProWein is a leading trade fair and we can’t wait to meet and share our wines with the important buyers, agents and wine writers who will be there,” commented Emma Swain, chair of the NVV Board of Directors, CEO of St. Supery Estate Vineyards & Winery and one of the vintners who will be traveling from the Napa Valley. “Not only are we celebrating several important milestones for our region, but we’ve enjoyed a string of incredible vintages in the Napa Valley the past few years. Visitors to our ProWein booth will be able to taste these wines and learn about what makes Napa Valley such a special place.”
In addition to the Napa Valley AVA anniversary, 2016 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Paris Tasting, when Napa Valley and California wines bested French wines in a blind tasting, and the 155th anniversary of Napa Valley’s first commercial winery opening for business.
Napa Valley will be in Hall 9, booth A05. Napa Valley Rocks seminars will be offered on the California Wines Pavilion, Hall 9, booth A06-C16 the following days and times:
- Sunday, March 13 at 15:00
- Monday, March 14 at 13:30
- Tuesday, March 15 at 12:00 and 16:30
