Crusoe Treasure is the only company in the world that ages wines under the sea. Astronomic auctions for ancient wines recovered from the bottom of the sea, scepticism from within the wine industry and the fantastic evolution attributed to these wines, motivated them to create CRUSOE TREASURE. Situated on the seabed in Biscay’s stunning Bay of Plentzia at a depth of 20 metres, the winery was designed with the aim of accommodating marine life and helping it to create its own ecosystem. Nowadays, Crusoe Treasure wines coexist with more than 150 different marine species making them unique around the world.
Crusoe Treasure boast an exceptional product thanks to the energy provided by the sea which in turn is passed back to the marine species of the area to regenerate. The data and conclusions arrived at in the project’s first two years of investigation studying more than 27 different types of wine, resulted in the creation of a unique process called “Underwater Treasuring”. Since then, the on-going studies and discoveries, together with the collaboration of the prestigious Excell Iberica laboratory, led by the oenologist D. Antonio T. Palacios, help Crusoe Treasure continue improving the quality of their wines.
