BODEGAS MARTÚE endorsed as "Vino de Pago Campo de La Guardia"
What does “Denominación de Origen de Pago (DO de Pago)” mean?
These wine regions aspire to the very highest standards with extremely strict geographical criteria, centring on individual single-estates with an international reputation. It is the highest level of quality recognized in Spain, above all the others denominations of origin (as for example Rioja, Ribera, etc.).
There are currently only 9 estates in all Spain with this prestigious status: Bodegas MARTÚE is one of them.
González-Abad family established in the 80´s a new way to make wines in the traditional spanish world of wine. Meticulous and avant-garde, Fausto González waited patiently about twenty years in order the vines reach an optimum quality before labelling under Martúe brand. Faithful to his goal, he always had in mind to make personal and singular as well as universal wines which would be able to spend a delicious and sensorial world perfectly understandable by everyone, professional or amateur consumer. A constant quality and an unbeatable value for money have been the key of the increasing success of this run-family winery.
Instead of increasing prices or the volume of production due to market demand, Bodegas Martúe decided to bet on repeating its philosophy in another projects as courageous as the first one.
In addition to the DO PAGO wines from Bodegas Martúe in Toledo, Fausto and his family continue to forge ahead with 2 other wineries, rising three wineries in total which are integrated in Martúe: Viñedos de Nieva, making fine wines from indigenous Verdejo of DO RUEDA from old vineyards or ungrafted vines which have resisted to the phylloxera plague of 19th, and Seis Quintas, six estates in the heart of portuguese DOURO whose first wines are on the point to be in the market.
