The 2006 Arrepiado Alentejo regional red wine has been recently awarded the «Best Bottle» prize at the 2009 «IDEWWINE» Design International Competition. “We wanted to convey to it an understanding that goes much further than just a simple wine bottle, turning it into a «Object of Worship», capable of arousing in the consumer other sensations that enrich the experience of drinking a good wine,” the author Marta Neto said, a Design graduate from the University of Aveiro. The name «Arrepiado» comes from a unique bird that lives in the region where the Herdade is located, an inspiring element in the creation of the golden pattern of the label. Its symbolic universe confers the wine brand image, compeling the consumer to hold the bottle in order to find out more about this mysterious wine. The 2006 Arrepiado is made from a careful selection of the best grapes of the Touriga Nacional and Syrah varietals and ageing for 16 months in French oak barrels. It displays a deep ruby/violet colour, it is concentrated and very intense on the nose, notes of toasted almond and fresh black fruits predominating. It enters full in the mouth, full-bodied, with a nice structure highlighting a good ageing potential; it finishes persistent, elegant and quite fragrant. It is a «Premium» wine from the Herdade do Arrepiado Velho.
