Welcome to the world of Consorzio Vini Cortona. A virtual tour designed to get you acquainted with our DOC consortium, its members, its activities, its events and the territory where it operates: a stunning, rolling countryside dotted with charming, well-kept vineyards that are testimony to an age-old, time-honoured winemaking tradition. As early as the 1st century AD, Pliny the Younger spoke of a fine Cortona white wine named Etesiaca; several centuries later, Renaissance pope Paul III, a well-known gourmet, loved stocking up on wines from our vineyards. Nobel-prize winning poet Giosuè Carducci is said to have often found inspiration for his work sitting in front of a small cask of the "stupendo vino di Cortona”. A glorious winemaking tradition that not only survived but flourished well into the present century, and continues to grow adding further lustre to this wonderful territory.
