Sensory characteristics:
The nose, characteristically heady and insistent, opens to emphatic impressions of wild red berry fruit and spice, initially a complex mosaic of wild blackberry, blueberry, and dark cherry, plus dried plum and dates, further enriched with subtle notes of sweet violets and sweetbriar. These aromas are lifted by spicier notes of vanilla, cocoa powder, and roast espresso, interleaved with pungent nuances of balsam and chlorophyll. Fine-grained, silky tannins, already well inserted into the structure, contribute to the ultra-smooth mouthfeel and overall sensation of warmth, while its vibrant acidity adds to the exquisite balance of all of its components. The almost-endless finish is laced with tasty, aromatic fruit.

THE LAND
Home of the Etruscan Culture, Ficomontanino is a typical expression of the Tuscan winemaking tradition. The geophysical characteristics and the special composition of the terrain enable us to make wines of inimitable flavor, reflecting the quality of the soil.

The vineyard follows the roundings of the hills, with the slopes and the exposition from south to southwest, at an altitude of about 350 mt over the sea-level. The soil presents a medium texture characterized typical blue-grey coloured clay- sand composition. This permits the roots of the vines to develop profoundly where they can draw their nutrition from layers that are particularly rich in minerals.
In keeping with the ancient origins of its name, the Fattoria preserves the procedures, practices and workmanship handed down over time, respecting strict ecological principles.

THE GRAPE VARIETIES
Our grapes are expression of the best Tuscan winemaking tradition.The vines of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc, lovingly cared, produce a finest selection of grapes.

From the vine to the cellar and from the Barrel to the bottle, all the procedures are performed with maximum care and respect to the nature.

THE METHOD
The wine is made in the vineyard with the quality of the grapes and not in the cellar, necessary only to preserve their characteristics.

The vineyards are planted in Spurred Cordon, 70 cm high, with a density of 3500 to 6000 plants per Hectare. The cellar, air-conditioned, is equipped with modern vinification systems to obtain the maximum from the grapes, in respect of their original character and the special accent of the terroir.

All the vineyards are treated following the CEE reg. 2078/92 on the reduction of chemical fertilizers and agrochemicals in agriculture.
