LORNANO CHIANTI CLASSICO GRAN SELEZIONE DOCG

Rating: Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG Grapes: Sangiovese 85% , Merlot 15% .

Vineyards: Located at an altitude of 300 meters s.l.m. facing South- South/West

Training system: Spurred cordon
Age Vineyards: New planting vineyards with an average density of 5,500 plants per hectare

Land: Medium-textured soil with presence stratified sands alternating with shales, stony alluvial origin mixed with limestone.

Winemaking: From a selection of the best grapes harvested from the company on September 15 and October 27, carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a median duration of 25-30 days at a temperature of about 26 ° Celsius. On completion of fermentation, the wine carries on malolactic fermentation, is then transferred to new French oak barrels where it remains for about 30 months. On completion of the aging process the blend is done with a further selection of the very best barriques, before a further aging bottle of 6 months.

Tasting notes: Intense ruby red color and concentrated almost impenetrable. Bouquet of berry spice dominated by blackberry. Full bodied and well balanced, lovely mouth feel with silky tannins. The palate is very fresh, lively and fruity. Very long warm finish.

Winemaking: From a selection of Sangiovese grapes gathered between 10 and 20 October, carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for a median duration of 25 days at an average temperature of about 26 ° Celsius.
On completion of fermentation, the wine carries on malolactic fermentation, is then transferred to French oak barrels where it remains for about 20 months, plays an aging bottle of 6months.

about 26 ° centigrade. When the alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine begins his malolactic fermentation after

Land: Medium-textured soil with presence stratified sands alternating with shales, mixed with limestone.

Winemaking: The best grapes, Malvasia and Trebbiano, the company collected between September 20 and 15 are lying on mats which have a flash for about 6 months and then are carefully selected and pressed, the net profit is put into oak barrels for 6 years. Plays a further 12 months of aging in bottle.

Tasting notes: Amber and brilliant. Scent of dried fruit and honey vanilla. The palate is thick aromatic, soft and warm and a pleasant lingering finish.

Vineyards: Located at an altitude of 300 meters s.l.m. facing South-South/West

Training system: Spurred cordon.

Age Vineyards: New planting vineyards with an average density of 5,500 plants per hectare.

Land: Medium-textured soil with presence stratified sands alternating with shales, stony alluvial origin mixed with limestone.

Winemaking: From a selection of the best grapes picked by the Company in 2 different harvests, an early harvest at mid September and the remainder harvested at mid October, the carefully de-stemmed grapes are vinified in modern stainless steel tanks, with a maceration of 48h on the skins at a temperature of about 5 ° Celsius. The resultant must is then moved into stainless steel tanks in order to start the fermentation at a controlled temperature of 18°.

Tasting notes: Lovely fruity aromas in the nose with a deep pink color and a nice balance on the palate.

Serving temperature: 8°-10°

Company details

Lornano is located on south west hills of Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni (5km from Siena) The family-owned winery produces Chianti Classico wine since 1904. On the 180 hectares that make up the property are cultivated grapes, olives and cereals. The wine is produced exclusively from the vineyards of the company, vinified in a modern winery in stainless steel tanks and aged in old wine cellars. Lornano wine won numerous and continuous awards at an international level. Accommodation at Fattoria Lornano consists in 4 villas with loads of space and height, private garden, parking space and entrance, separate from the owners’ villa and a large pool, about 50 metres beyond the houses.
