2016 Nouveau

The brilliant berry color in the glass is due to the natural occurring acidity in the youthful wine, and as you move to the bouquet, aromas of watermelon and tart cherry are evident.

LangeTwins Nouveau is a celebration of the 2016 harvest, the first release of the vintage, and a first ever bottling! To honor the 2016 vintage from the Lodi Appellation, we thought it would only be appropriate for the wine to be crafted from Old Vine Zinfandel, and it truly is a unique expression of Lodi’s famous traditional varietal.

Directly after harvest the winegrapes were stored in a stainless steel tank for several days, and a small portion of the Old Vine Zinfandel juice was bled off into neutral barrels for fermentation, a process known as saignée. The barrel fermentation led to additional texture and richness in the young wine, and just after fermentation was complete, the wine was bottled.

The brilliant berry color in the glass is due to the natural occurring acidity in the youthful wine, and as you move to the bouquet, aromas of watermelon and tart cherry are evident. This carries through to the palate with a bright and lively finish. Our Nouveau has characteristics of both red and white wine, allowing it to be served at room temperature or slightly chilled, and really is a versatile wine ideal for pairing with a variety of foods.

2014 Winery Exclusive Petite Sirah

Extraordinarily deep in color, our 2014 Winery Exclusive Petite Sirah opens with aromas of ripe blackberry and blueberry.

Extraordinarily deep in color, our 2014 Winery Exclusive Petite Sirah opens with aromas of ripe blackberry and blueberry. This initial bouquet carries through to the palate where the flavors meld with warm spice tones from 14 months of aging in French and American oak barrels. Finishing with well-integrated tannins, this wine is the perfect pairing for bold flavors like mole sauce and aged cheeses.

Vineyard Notes
Petite Sirah is a sturdy vine that thrives in many types of terroir including the highly organic Detla soil that sits below sea level in the Clarksburg Appellation where our vineyard is located. We continuously manage nutrient and water levels in the vineyard in order to develop the depth of flavors intrinsic to Petite Sirah.

Production
After a cold snap in December 2013, the 2014 growing season transitioned to a mild winter and spring. With the current drought conditions we welcomed the late February and early March rains that were well-timed and kept the vines growing. Consistent sunny weather from mid-March on led to early bud break in the vineyards as temperatures rose. A few weeks of warm weather in the late summer months allowed the winegrapes to ripen early, making 2014 one of the earliest harvests on record. On the vine, most varietals had loose clusters that resulted in even veraison, bringing about uniform ripening which is necessary for winegrapes to develop great flavors and color. With average yields and great quality, the 2014 season produced another unique vintage.

About us

Company details

AGRICULTURE IS THE CORE OF WHO WE ARE

For five generations our family has been growing sustainable winegrapes in the Lodi Appellation and in 2006 we opened a winery to showcase our passion for growing winegrapes – because great wine starts in the vineyard. Building on our successes as a farm family, the winery was our first step into crafting wines.

Today, we use our distinct advatange of having control over the entire winemaking process - creating wines from our estate vineyards to the final packaged wine using our new, state-of-the-art bottling line.  This enables a continuous line of quality from vine to wine.
