2013 Inglenook Rubicon

In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola purchased the historic Inglenook property, intent on restoring the estate’s legacy of creating world-class wines equal to those that founder Gustave Niebaum and his grandnephew John Daniel Jr. made for decades. Rubicon, the estate’s premier wine since 1978, is produced from the best estate grown fruit, including the historic Gustave Niebaum Cabernet Sauvignon selection, which was first planted on the property in the 1880s.

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Cask)

Previously this wine was known as CASK Cabernet Sauvignon. Inglenook will now refer to this wine as Inglenook Cabernet
Sauvignon. This is a tribute to the historic world-renowned Inglenook 1941 vintage, produced by John Daniel, Jr. from vines brought to the Inglenook Estate from Bordeaux by Gustave Niebaum. Today, this estate-grown wine is blended with the best lots of Cabernet Sauvignon that remain after the highly selective blending of Rubicon.

2014 Inglenook Blancaneaux

Created in 1999 as a partner to Rubicon, Inglenook’s premier red wine, Blancaneaux is a white Rhone-style blend of estate-grown Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier. Produced in extremely limited quantities from the 6.5 acres of white grapes grown on the property at the base of Mt. St. John, all three varietals come from vines that are more than ten years old and now showing signs of maturity by revealing more profuse aromatics, richer textures, and complex flavors. Marsanne and Roussanne contribute body and minerality, while our Viognier brings an intense bouquet of tropical fruit and spices.

Inglenook Edizione Pennino Zinfandel

Edizione Pennino Zinfandel pays tribute to Francis Ford Coppola’s maternal grandfather, Francesco Pennino. Born in Italy, Francesco emigrated to the United States as a young man and started a music publishing company known as “Edizione Pennino.” Our estate Zinfandel bears the music company’s logo in its original form and to add to the nostalgia, each vintage bottling has one of Pennino’s song titles imprinted on the cork. When Coppola purchased the Inglenook estate in 1975, it was recommended that he remove the Zinfandel vines, but because this varietal has Italian origins and has always been enjoyed by his family, he insisted the Zinfandel remain.

About us

Company details

The Inglenook legacy began in 1879 when Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, wine connoisseur and entrepreneur, came to Rutherford to build a wine estate that would rival Europe’s finest. When Niebaum’s grandnephew, John Daniel, Jr. inherited the chateau and vineyards in the 1930s, Inglenook had already earned international acclaim. Francis and Eleanor Coppola purchased the property in 1975 and have spent forty years reuniting the original vineyards, returning winemaking operations to the chateau, and restoring Inglenook’s illustrious heritage with the help of renowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt and Managing Director and Winemaker Philippe Bascaules. In honor of this estate and its historical significance, we have restored the name, Inglenook.
