200 MONGES RESERVA

“Deep, intense red with notes of ripe red fruit, tobacco, cedar, and truffles on the nose: very clean, intense aromas. Good body on the palate, with fine tannins from careful barrel-ageing, and very well-balanced. Ample mouth-feel with light notes of liquorice and a long, silky and elegant finish”.
This wine was made with a strict selection of three grape varieties – Tempranillo 85%, Graciano 10% and Garnacha 5% – harvested manually in 15 kg tubs.

The grapes are partially or totally destemmed, depending on the year and then fermented in Allier oak vats for 11 days, and left in contact with the skins for further 25 days, in order to extract the right amount of tannins.

The finished wine was aged for a minimum of 20 months in new barrels made of French oak from different forests as well as American oak. Once bottled it spends a minimum of 16 months in our cellars before being put on to the market. As the wine is completely unfiltered we recommend opening and decanting 30-45 minutes before serving.

200 MONGES GRAN RESERVA

“Very deep cherry red, bright and with a hint of tawny at the rim. Exceptionally aromatic on the nose, with aromas of ripe fruit or compote, and balsamic overtones. Mouth-filling weight with rich nuances, soft, velvety tannins and hints of black fruit, superbly harmonised in their aromatic complexity. Very elegant and rich on the finish with good acidity, warmth, and a lingering spice”.
The Gran Reserva is the result of painstaking selection of the finest grapes and bunches from older vines (45 years average) in a single vineyard (7 ha). The wine has outstanding potential.

A blend of Tempranillo 85%, Graciano 10% and Mazuelo 5%, harvested manually in 15 kg tubs. The grapes are partially or totally destemmed, depending on the year.

Fermentation is in Allier oak vats for 13 days followed by skin-contact for a further 28 days, in order to obtain tannins that ensure long-lasting colour persistence.

The finished wine is aged for a minimum of 30 months in new barrels made of French oak from different forests as well as American oak. Bottle-ageing times vary, depending on the vintage, but with a minimum of 16 months before being put on to the market.

The wine is bottled without any kind of filtering and as a result we recommend opening and decanting 30-45 minutes before serving.
Optimal serving temperature: 17-18 °C.

About us

Company details

SMALL PRODUCTION
All the technical equipment of our winemaking facilities is adapted to a small high-quality production process. Yields range around 3,300 kilograms per hectare.

AGING
One of the main things that differentiates Rioja wines from the other wine appellations is the great aging aptitude of its wines. Through an optimal aging process in oak barrels, the wine experiences a favourable evolution and reaches a sensory and tasty complexity. Besides, a natural stabilization is favoured by periodic rackings.

Bodegas Vinícola Real has a magnificent underground cellar carved out of a mountain that gives wines the ideal temperature and humidity conditions in a natural way (12°C and 85%) all over the year, what improves the wine aging in oak barrel as well as in bottle.
The silence and the repose in which our precious wines are submerged ensure an optimal aging, a perfect condition for the making of great distinguished and top quality wines.
