Ijalba Maturana Blanca
Encounter with history
This variety was first encountered in La Rioja en the year 1622. The grape called Maturana blanca has provided us with a contemporary wine. Almost extinct before being rescued by as a joint effort, gives us a wine to remember, with its golden tint, intense aroma of tropical fruit and full-body.
This wine is the result of an effort to save almost extinct grape varieties from the Rioja.
This R&D project was setup up with the partnership of the Consejo Regulador DOCa Rioja (DOCa = Appellation), the university of La Rioja and CIDA (Centre for Research and Development in Agriculture). The vineyards are cultivated organically.
It is the first wine in the world made from the Maturana Blanca variety.
Young dry white, can be drunk while young but, yet maintains its quality for several more years and is known to have a positively interesting bottle evolution.
