The Roncaglie Barbaresco

It is the first wine of the house; our wine for special occasions; with great body, complex structure and deep garnet red color. It has fine and elegant scent of violets, mint and cherry jam. The palate is soft and smooth to continue in length with dense and silky tannins.

Made with only Nebbiolo grapes, aged for 12-15 months in French oak barrels of 225 liters, of which one-third new, and 12 months in large oak casks of 20 hl. Refinement continues in the bottle for at least other 12 months before sale. Great potential for aging (at least 20 years). It is better to the consumer at 18-19°C in large crystal glasses.

We recommend pairings with dishes of roast red meat and game. It is great to accompany the first main course of the Piedmontese cuisine: agnolotti and tajarin with meat ragout or gravy sauce.

The Barbera d’Alba Superiore

Barbera is an extensively cultivated grape variety in Piedmont, and its presence is strong in the Langhe. Production generally is generous, with very strong acidity of the grapes and wines and intense coloration of the skins. On the other hand, is quite sensitive to rot and gray mold. To overcome this problem and to obtain high-quality products, the grapes must come from old vines placed in direct sunlight (from south-east to south-west); is also appropriate to control amounts through vineyard management and by sacrificing some production in summer.

An old vineyard in the village of Ressia in the comune of Alba, a rather thick planting pattern, the aimed thinning at ripening stage and a careful selection of grapes during harvest ensure this wine unique characteristics: depth, body, strong ruby red color, bouquet, low acidity and great complexity. The soil is calcareous clay with exposure south/southeast at 220 m a.s.l. The vineyard is farmed Guyot style with a density of 5000 vines/hectare.

This Barbera d’Alba, vinified in 20-hl troco-conical wooden vats, is aged from 12 to 18 months in oak barrels of second and third passage. Is then assembled and stored in stainless steel tanks for 6-12 months. It completes its aging six months in the bottle before being marketed.

About us

Company details

Socré’s vineyards are situated in the Langhe and Astigiano (on the border with Roero); partly in the province of Cuneo (Barbaresco and Alba) and partly in the province of Asti (Cisterna d’Asti). To the left of the Tanaro River we find the village of Cisterna d’Asti, while, on the right bank of the river, there is our land in Alba and Barbaresco.
