Roero Arneis d.o.c.g

Its extreme elegance immediately justifies the reasons why this original Piedmontese wine has been so successful.

Colour: straw yellow.

Bouquet: it has an original and intense aroma of white flowers and fruits such as pear, peach, pineapple and passion fruit.

Flavour: the same sensations appear again in the mouth, amplified by a full and harmonic taste deriving from its great structure. The Arneis full body and its persistence make this wine a unique one. The aftertaste is rich and mineral, thanks to the presence of magnesium, which is to be found abundantly in the Cornarea hill soil. It then blends with the body fruity taste, thus providing Roero Arneis Cornarea a well-balanced elegance.

Serving temperature: 10-12 degrees

Tarasco

Tarasco vinification is peculiar since the Cornarea microclimate allows the formation of Botritis Cinerea, also called"noble mould", on the ripe Arneis grapes. This mould covers the raisins and dehydrates them, thus enhancing the sugar concentration. The grapes are picked at the end of October and are put in wooden crates in order to continue drying until December. When 80% of the water has dried out, the grapes are finally pressed. Tarasco then rests for at least 48 months in used oak barrels. Due to natural evaporation, the wine level within the barriques diminishes year after year. Nevertheless they are never refilled in order to allow a natural oxygenation that will grant the wine a unique array of complex flavours and perfumes.

Colour: shiny gold.

Bouquet: this wine has a very rich and complex bouquet that includes aromas of citrus fruits, caramel, peach jam, figs, apricots, coffee, liquorice, tobacco and wall nuts.

Flavour: in the mouth it is rich, intense, rounded, structured and persistent. Although mellow and sweet with acacia and fig jam aromas, its aftertaste is well balanced and not excessively sweet thanks to a good acidity, a rare quality for this type of wines.

About us

Company details

The Cornarea Wine Producing Company is located next to Canale, in the heart of the Roero area and on the sides of the historic Cornarea Hill whose name goes back to the year 1000.
The company disposes of 15 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Areneis and Nebbiolo.

Here, towards the mid 70s, Piero Bovone and Francesca Rapetti first planted an ancient white autochthonous grape of the Roero area that had almost disappeared: the Arneis, recovering it form few rows that still existed within the Nebbiolo and Barbera vineyards.

Those same vineyards, which are now in the prime of their lives, are still presently producing the grapes of the Roero Arneis Cornarea.

Piero and Francesca have now been joined by their sons, the oenologist Gian Nicola Bovone and Pierfranco Bovone, a lawyer.

Together they have taken up the mission of protecting the Cornarea tradition and maintaining quality in the production of Roero Arneis and Tarasco Passito Arneis, and also that of Roero docg and Nebbiolo d'Alba, the great red wines produced on the left side of the Tanaro river.
