About us

Company details

Mediterranean, intended as being not only the physical place but also the centre for cultural exchange, for communication, the ability to transmit and share thoughts and values, for confrontation of one position with others.

The “’A Casedda” cultural centre
Concetta and Enza, the respective wives of Antonio and Nicodemo Librandi, the owners of the winery, in 1998 they had the idea to make a space available to talents of the territory and besides it, where these could make themselves known to a qualified public.

The idea became a concrete event with the reconstruction of characteristic country house in the estate dating back to the middle of the eighteenth century. It is a very suggestive place which, during the years, has hosted exhibitions, courses, presentations and has become a real cultural centre called “A Casedda”.

All the time and resources which have been invested with enthusiasm into this initiative, and which have been supported in “‘A Casedda” with activities such as public relations, press involvement, and the offering of our contacts in the various pertinent specific environments, in our opinion have all been well spent and we have received much in return.

Writers, painters, photographers, artists and all those who have presented their work in the cultural centre, have given merit to our work and our winery, attracting an always greater public and contributing to our enrichment from a personal and intellectual point of view.

Our dedication will continue with enthusiasm in this direction, with the awareness that over time all this has created a virtuous circle, which is witness to the strong tie which has always existed between this hacienda and our territory.

 

Librandi and the association “I Vignaioli del Cirò”
Every year, apart from the grapes of our production, we use grapes exclusively from the DOC zone of Cirò.

The “I Vignaioli del Cirò” association was set up in 2008 to give incentive to the strong tie between the winery and its selected suppliers. This relationship goes well beyond a mere commercial involvement, it is collaboration with the aim of creating reciprocal growth both of the competence and qualitative level of our final products: grapes, and so, wine.
The association today boasts 42 associates.

There are many activities and periodical meetings connected to the topical moments in the vineyard. There are circumstances which bring about an exchange of information and moments where decisions are made together about the various phases of work to be carried out. From the pruning to the pressing, from the control of the canopy and the soil to the battle against parasites and the harvest, but much, much more too.

At these meetings, apart from the technical personnel of the hacienda, from time to time also other experts in the sector are invited to join us with the aim of updating the know-how of the associates, therefore maintaining a constant contact between the scientific community and the association so that it is always well informed about modern innovation and technical knowledge.

An important role in the association’s activities is the annual trip around Italy or overseas where it is possible to confront our area, traditions and methods of production with those of others; yet another opportunity to pick up hints, new ideas or reinforce our own opinions.

All the activities which are carried out, culminate in the by now traditional Scientific Conference which has a different theme every year and which is organized in the harvesting period. On this occasion a prize for the Vintner of Excellence is given. International experts from the wine world are invited every year by the association and together with local experts are asked to give speeches at the conference and be part of the jury. It is their job to inspect the vineyards of the associates, fill out evaluation forms giving judgement on the integracy of the leaf wall, of the health and grade of maturation of the grape, a sensorial analysis of the same, an analysis of the use of the soil, the pruning, the balance of the plant and the panoramic impact of the vineyard.

Every activity of the association “I Vignaioli del Cirò” is planned to improve the production affiliates’ work through the sharing of aims, knowledge and strategies with which we hope to reach the objectives together, the most important being the constant and progressive bettering of the quality of our enological production as well as that of the territory.
