Capgiró

Varieties
Giró Blanc, also called Giró Ros, is a white native variety that was about to disappear and has been recovered in recent years.

Organic farming

Winemaking
The clean must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 14º and 16ºC. It remains during 6 months on its fine lees and, after gentle clarification and filtration, it is bottled during the early spring.

Tasting notes
It is a wine of golden coloring, with aromatic and elegant medium intensity nose with sensations of exotic fresh fruits like pineapple, mango, with a citrus point and also notes of herbs. Sometime later appear touches of butter and brioche, due to having been on the lees. On the mouth it is fresh and clean with more citrus than on the nose and again the pastry sensations in a robust and unctuous palate. It has a persistent acidity giving the wine vivacity and an interesting and long aftertaste. Drink it cold, between 8º and 10°C and preferably combined with light meals.

Gorgollassa

Varieties
Gorgollassa, red native variety that was about to disappear and has been recovered in recent years.

Organic farming

Winemaking
During two weeks it is gently pumped over the cap in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 25°C. After malolactic fermentation, it is aged during 9 months in French oak barrels of 500 liters. This wine has not been cold stabilized and, therefore, can present tartaric precipitations.

Tasting notes
Due to its characteristics and aging in oak, this wine evolves significantly when stored under appropriate conditions, developing new nuances, finesse and aromatic potential. It has a ripe cherry color with violet reflections. In the nose there is subtle appearance of floral and roast scents, also good fruit, like cherries and presence of dairy (toffee) aroma. In the mouth, it has a soft entry, balanced and fleshy palate (slightly acidic) with soft tannins and a good aftertaste. It combines with consistent dishes, strong cheeses, red meats, game.

Galdent

Varieties
Viognier

Organic farming

Winemaking
Pellicular maceration during 8 hours is done before pressing.  The must flower and the first fraction of the pressing is fermented in new French oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 16°C. It is aged during 6 months on its lees under the batonnage technique. Once bottled the wine is aged during one year.

Tasting notes
It is a very special wine due to the characteristics of the variety. It has aromas of honey and raisins, white fruits (apricot, loquat, etc.) and also a floral touch with a smoked background. On the palate it is powerful, has weight and fruity suggestions like apricot syrup followed by a long finish. It can be enjoyed immediately, but kept under appropriate conditions will develop new nuances in the bottle during the early years. It combines with mild meats, seasoned fish and semi-hard cheeses.

About us

Company details

It is a small and very distinctive family winery, founded in 1979. The project was started driven by the desire and the conviction that in Mallorca and specifically in Algaida, high quality wines could be produced. It was an adventure and an aspiration. Difficult to say if it was meant to be an experiment or a hobby or just entertainment, but the truth is that after the planting started, gradually, this project has been doing great in all aspects without ever losing sight of the main goal: grow, develop and commercialize unique and quality wines.

The winery has been built over the time with the effort of the whole family. The building has a large open space, as though it was the yard of a manor, with warehouses, the cellar and the garden around. The wine cellar holds a special atmosphere of repose. This is where the aging is done and where optimum conditions for conservation of wines are given.

Both the vineyards and winery are located in Algaida, a village with deep viticultural roots and a peasant ancestral culture, part of the Denomination of Origin Pla i Llevant in Mallorca.
