First it was “Cantina Sociale Veronese del Garda”, a cooperative company founded on April 1958 by 11 winegrowers of the lake Garda. Their initial purpose, as testified by the company’s statute, was to produce genuine, easy drinking and typical wines as to finally divide the proceeds among the same associates according to the quantity and the quality of the grapes supplied. This attitude represented then (and it fits our times too) an important answer to the high demand of cooperation for doing a better job and counting more.
The company, named then “Cantina Castelnuovo del Garda”, kept on working for a gradual but constant growth: today it counts over 250 winegrowers owning about 1200 hectares of vineyards.
On 2006 the winery started an important technological renovating process in the vineyards, by employing new instruments good to reduce treatments and preservatives, as well as in the cellar, with innovative wine processing systems.
Cantina Castelnuovo del Garda works for quality also through crucial commercial choices like the constant increase of bottled wines, both Doc (more than the half) and Igt. Concerning with that Ca’ Vegar and Bosco del Gal lines stand out among the others, since they are made with the best selection of grapes harvested by hand, processed in small quantity and carefully aged in barrel and in bottle.
