Full, brilliant garnet-red in color with clean-cut aromas of rose, fine tobacco, and mint, plus a slight whiff of licorice. On the palate it is full-flavored, full-bodied, and warm with suggestions of fresh spices and red fruit. After 36 months of aging in large barrels, the tannins are particularly expressive. The fruit makes a strong comeback in the aftertaste.

Serving suggestion:: Goes well with pasta dishes with game sauces, roasted and braised red meat, wild boar stew, mature and blue cheeses.

Serving temperature: 18°C.

Notes
Vigna Elena is a wine for Barolo purists, uncompromising in its style and character and disregarding of taste trends and market demands. To create this honest Barolo, we respectfully and meticulously follow the experience our grandparents handed down to us. We use the same nebbiolo clone (100% Rosè for many years now), cultivation system and yield, use of native yeasts, and aging in large barrels. These practices, in addition to the unique microclimate of the Langhe, combine to create a wine worthy of its history and tradition, capable of raising the profile of the Barolo appellation. The label of Vigna Elena attests to its excellence: a chick drawn by Elena for her mother Nadia and her father Valter when she was three years old. Ever since then, it has been the symbol of the wine.

Barbera d'Alba DOC "Bricco dei Merli"

Area: 1.8 hectares
Grape variety: Barbera
Density: 4,500 vines per hectare
Cultivation: vertical trellised, Guyot pruning
Average altitude: 300 m above sea level
Average no. bottles produced: 10,000
Harvest period: end of September–start of October
Wine making: in stainless steel, temperature-controlled, automatic pump-over
Aging: 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels
Lysis: 60 days
Bottle aging: 6 months

Bright ruby red in color with clear crimson highlights. Deep, full aromas, elegant, well-balanced and enduring, reminiscent of rose, undergrowth and oriental spices. Very powerful bouquet, sweetened by an overall softness. Fine structure accompanied by lively acidic freshness. Flavors conjure up Morello cherry and plum jam with a long finish of withered grape.

Serving suggestion: Serve with tasty dishes such as pasta, red meat, and medium-mature soft, fatty cheeses.

Serving temperature: 18° C

Notes
This is a typically Piedmontese wine, well-structured and good for aging, in which wood and fruit blend to maintain the characteristics and typicality of the grape variety intact. True to Cogno tradition, its principal qualities are its drinkability and freshness. A wine with a strong but not too international character.

Bright ruby red in color with deep violet highlights. The perfume is immediate and intense, uncompromisingly vinous and persistent. It is redolent of grape must which develops sensations of red wild berries when aged. The bouquet is dry and full-bodied, elegant and round, with notes of fruit and a wonderfully almondy finish.

Serving suggestion: Serve with starters, pasta, soups, salamis, and soft, fresh cheeses.

Serving temperature: 16 – 18°C.

Notes
A great wine with a great history to which the Elvio Cogno winery has always devoted care and commitment. Full-bodied and packed with fruit. True to tradition, its early freshness and complexity after bottle aging make it great for daily drinking.

About us

Company details

The Elvio Cogno Winery produces the principle wines of the Langhe. The winery owns about fifteen hectares of vineyard property in Novello, one of eleven townships in the province of Cuneo in which Barolo DOCG production is allowed.
The hills are world-renowned for their history, culture, and beauty, and they were recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage.
In the footsteps of its founder Elvio Cogno, today Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore direct the winery with four generations of winemakers and vine growers, dedicated to obtaining excellence that begins with the unique terroir to create wines that are famous throughout the world for their elegance, texture, and balance.

With four Barolo labels and eleven and a half hectares of vineyards in Ravera, Cogno is the most important producer of the Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MeGA) “Ravera.” Ravera is the most well-known cru, or zone of vineyards, of Novello. It is recognized for producing wines that are able to withstand time while maintaining their aromas and freshness intact.
