GARNATXA BLANCA

D.O. Terra Alta

Elaboration
We looked for a range of Garnatxa vines, some very old, others younger, to achieve complexity and balance. Of key importance was picking the grapes before the natural acidity was lost (our whites have no acidity added!). A short maceration on skins followed by pressing and fermentation. The wines spend a further 2 months on fine lees to gain texture and complexity.

Tasting Note
Very aromatic with notes of melon and white fruits on nose. On the palate it is balanced with a medium body and a nice crisp freshness. Pairs well with simple tapas and grilled squid.

Analitycal
• Alcohol : 13.5 %
• Residual Sugar : 0.66 g/l
• Total Acidity : 5.6 g/l

GARNATXA NEGRA

D.O. Terra Alta

Elaboration
We looked for a range of Garnatxa vines, some very old, others younger, to achieve complexity and balance. Of key importance was picking with a good level ripeness but avoiding excessive alcohol.

Tasting Note
Bright crimson in colour, this wine is very expressive with notes of red fruits and minerals that leap from the glass. Plenty of fruit on the palate, a touch of complexity and sweet tannins. Pairs well with grilled meats, cabrito and lamb.

Analitycal
• Alcohol : 14 %
• Residual Sugar : 0.43 g/l
• Total Acidity : 5.60 g/l

ROSAT

Garnatxa Negra
D.O. Terra Alta

Elaboration
The grapes are picked earlier then they would be for red wine, keeping potential alcohol levels lower. Upon entering the winery the grapes are crushed, chilled and sent direct to the press where they macerate on skins in hermetic conditions for 2-3 hours. With very little colour obtained the must enters the fermentation tanks to continue its transformation into wine.

Tasting Note
A very light, salmon pink colour reveals the short contact with skins. A delicate floral aroma is followed by light, fresh taste with a hint of sweetness from the garnacha.

Analitycal
• Alcohol : 13.5 %
• Residual Sugar : 0.5 g/l
• Total Acidity :

About us

Company details

In 2010 I decided to buy my father’s grapes and make quality wine that carried my family’s name. The Herència Altés brand was born and by 2013 it had become successful enough for us to invest in our first vineyard, La Serra, and our own little winery, in my home village of Batea. Working in combination with an experienced winemaker from France, Claude Gros, we have been able to experiment with different materials and techniques to find out what worked best with our amazing garnacha grapes. An initial range of four wines had expanded to nine, including the two single vineyard wines La Serra Blanc and Negre. In 2014 and 2015 we purchased the Grau and Chalamera vineyards, bringing out total holding to 60 hectares, many of which have old vines and all of which are farmed according to organic practices.

In 2016 work began on our new winery positioned in the Grau vineyard. Surrounded by old vines and overlooking the dramatic Els Ports massif, this modern, state-of- the-art facility is the final effort on our journey to become a premium producer of authentic wines from Terra Alta.
