About us

Company details

We’re in love with wines of character!

We love

- fruity wines that are typical for the grape variety they’re made from
- wines that reflect the soil they grew on
- wines with a message of their own
- wines that aren’t mainstream, including Riesling wines with their hallmark acidity!

We currently grow vines on approx. 30 ha, close to 70 per cent of which are planted with Riesling. Other important varieties are Weißburgunder/Pinot Blanc, Grauburgunder/Pinot Gris and Spätburgunder/Pinot Noir  as well as some rarer varieties such as Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon which take up a much smaller vineyard area.

However, Riesling is the most important variety for us by far and we’re planning to further increase its share. Our vineyards in Meddersheim and Schloßböckelheim give us the chance to offer two types of Riesling that are absolutely characteristic for each vineyard but totally different from each other. Eroded sandstone with embedded quartzite and volcanic porphyry - an exciting contrast!

Good wines grow in the vineyard; all you can do in the cellar is try and perfect what the grape has given to you. This is why we take great care of our vineyards. The number of canes per vine is reduced to just one during pruning; in addition, the grapes are thinned out. Part of the ripening grapes is thinned out again, defoliation is standard. All our grapes are picked by hand as this is the only way to guarantee a perfect selection. In addition, we often pick twice. Only the ripest grapes are harvested; the rest is given all the time it needs to develop its full flavour.

We cordially invite you to visit our winery in Meddersheim and find your favourite wines during a tasting. Our opening hours are

Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 12:30 and from 13:30 until 18:30 hrs
Saturday from 8:30 until 12:30 and from 13:30 until:30 hrs
as well as by appointment. Our winery is not open on Sundays and holidays.

Please give us a call when you’re planning to come and see us - we’re looking forward to your visit!
