ATIS Bolgheri Superiore Doc

Atis is the name of a legendary king, grandchild of Zeus, at the origin of Etruscan people. Atis is our Superior Bolgheri and with it we express the greatness of our territory without modifying its essence, in a subtle equilibrium between our work and the naturalness of the earth and the vines. In the label there is a drawing of an “married” grape vine, like it was grown by Etruscan and then for centuries in Italy. Vine is married to the tree, clinging to it to give its fruit without being parasitic or oppressive. In the ancient poetry it was the indissoluble love metaphor.

VARIETIES: Cabernet sauvignon 80%, Cabernet franc and Merlot.

VINEYARD: on the hills of Bolgheri, alluvial soil, with good pebble-gravel texture and moderate clay content. Mediterranean climate refreshed by sea winds, in summer significant temperature range between day and night. Produced with sustainable practices.

PRODUCTION: grapes of selected vineyard parcels, vinified without correctives or additives which would alter the original characteristics of the grapes. Refined on the lees for 24 months in oak barrels (only 10% new) and almost 12 months in bot-tle. Not filtrated. Available bottle sizes: 750 ml - (Magnum) 1,5 liter - (Jéroboam) 3 liter - (Mathusalem) 6 liter - (Salmanazar) 9 liter - (Balthazar) 12 liter.

JASSARTE Toscana IGT Rosso

In the ancient times, the rivers Jassarte and Indo were considered the border between East and West. For us it represents the "borderland", where we can break the mould, where new ideas and splendid contaminations arise, like this important wine with a strong personality. The Jassarte origins are in the collection-vineyard that prof. At-tilio Scienza has created at Guado al Melo for a study of Mediterranean and Caucasian grape varieties and where we have been able to evaluate over the years the vari-eties that better suted to our area. In the label there are two little and nimble satyrs: we can imagine them harvesting our vineyard, two benign deities of past times which are watching over our vines and our work.

VARIETIES: Syrah based.

VINEYARD: on the hills of Bol-gheri, alluvial soil, with good pebble-gravel texture and moderate clay content. Mediterranean climate re-freshed by sea winds, in summer significant temperature range be-tween day and night.

Available bottle sizes: 750 ml - (Magnum) 1,5 liter.

GUADO AL MELO BIANCO Toscana IGT Bianco

Guado al Melo Bianco was born from our great passion for the aged white wines. It comes from Vermentino grapes and an elegant blend of white varieties, carefully selected to give a long-lived wine of great expressiveness. The aging on the lees gives complexity, finesse and a long finish. In the label two satyrs dance with joyful thrill, with bare feet, in the hands a rattle instru-ment and a kantharos, the cup with two handles symbol of the god of wine. The gifts of Bacchus (wine, music, and dance) lead to an ecstasy of serenity, for the ancients to the vision of the happy Golden Age before the time corruption. Bare feet have a sacred value: they are the necessary condition to get in touch with the Earth and its presences.

VARIETIES: 80% Vermentino and other white wine grapes (Fiano, Ver-dicchio, Manzoni and Petit Manseng).

VINEYARD: on the hills of Bolgheri, alluvial soil, with good pebble-gravel texture and moderate clay content. Mediterranean climate refreshed by sea winds, in summer significant temperature range between day and night. Produced with sustainable practices.

PRODUCTION: grapes of selected vineyard parcels. After a very light pressing of the whole clusters, the must is cold-settled naturally over-night. Vinified without correctives or additives which would alter the origi-nal characteristics of the grapes. After fermentation, it undergoes a 12 months refinement on the lees in steel tanks and at least 12 months in glass. Available bottle sizes: 750 ml - (Magnum) 1,5 liter.

About us

Company details

Guado al Melo, a family-owned winery directed by Annalisa and Michele Scienza, is committed to the goal of producing great terroir wines, following a philosophy based on artisanality and sustainability. We are located in the Bolgheri DOC zone, in the Tuscan hills that face the Tyrrhenian Sea, immersed in a pristine natural landscape characterised by Mediterranean scrubland.

The heart and soul of our winery, completely underground and constructed in accord with ecological principles, is our Biblioteca del Vino (Wine Library), which boasts several thousands of books on the history and culture of wine. A visit to Guado al Melo, then, becomes a true journey into a fascinating world, an adventure composed of historical vineyards, ampelography collections, accounts and stories, displays, exhibits, and videos…
