In the eighties, before the Ribera del Duero became a fashionable winemaking area, José Manuel Vizcarra Aguado was a pioneer in planting new vineyards. In 1991 his son Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos followed in his father´s footsteps and started making first young wines and later aged wines.
In 2007, we start making wine in new installations where gravity is used in the whole process (pump over, wine press, run off and rack and return) we remove electrical bombs in order to get intense aromas and soft tannins.
Nowadays, Juan Carlos Vizcarra, the enologist, investigates and elaborates micro-vinifications of grapes from old plots.

Tasting notes: It shows a singular pale colour with silvery glints. It is very fruity and rich of a
lot of white fruit, citrus fruit and tree fruit hints, alongside hints of red fruits such as cherry
or pomegranate. On palate it is a very full-bodied but well-balanced and crisp.
Storage and serving suggestions: under good storage conditions, this wine will maintain its
characteristics for one year. Serve very cool (6º C).

Growing and conduction system: conventional agriculture and double Royat wire trained type.
Technical specifications:
Harvest: picked manual and by machine between middle and late September 2014
Winemaking and ageing: alcoholic fermentation and maceration have been made under controlled
temperature. Most of the wine has been aged for 12 months in concrete vats and a smaller part of it
in French oak barrels for 6 months.
Alcoholic content: 13.35 % Vol.
Total acidity: 5.2 gr. / l., expressed in tartaric acid
Total sugar: 0.28 gr. / l.
Total Sulphur Dioxide: <100 mg. / l.
Bottling date: October, 2015
Production: 10.400 bot. x 750 ml

Tasting notes: it presents a strong red colour and black fruit aromas traditional from Syrah grape.

Tasting notes: red colour with purple glints. It is fruity and varietal wine with fine hints of
terroir aromas (Mediterranean woods). On the palate is full-bodied, fruity and luscious.
Storage and serving suggestions: under good storage conditions, this wine will maintain its
characteristics at least up to late 2017. Serve between 14º and 16º C.
Ever since we started this line with the 1996 harvest, the Clot d’encís wines have conjured up the
unique landscapes surrounding the town of Bot, offering a modern expression of wine-making
traditions and the Agrícola Sant Josep winery’s commitment to quality. This wine is produced using
those varieties of red grape best adapted to our environment – among which the red Grenache
takes pride of place. Vines are selected for their moderate production and optimum conditions of
ripening and health. The traditional Samsó (Carignan) and Syrah grapes usually make up the rest of
the blend. Both the red Grenache and the Samsó are harvested by hand. Each variety of grape is
then processed separately using traditional vinification methods under controlled conditions and a
maceration time between eight and fourteen days. Following the malolactic fermentation, the
varietals are tasted and the final blending carried out accordingly. The wine is left to settle gently

FATUM White D.O. La Mancha

Varieties: 50% Airen, 35% Macabeo, 15% Sauvignon Blanc.
Vineyard age: Airen 30 years old, Sauvignon and Macabeo 20 years old. Vineyards located in different areas of D.O. La Mancha like La Roda (Albacete) and Pozoamargo (Cuenca). The vineyard is worked in a traditional viticulture, almost ecologic and with low yield per plant, around 25 Hl/ha. The wine is elaborated with excellent raw material, using only the best and balanced grapes and looking for a good acidity.
Types of soil: lime and clay soils.
Grape harvested in September. Each area is harvested when each variety reach their optimum state of ripeness.
Vinification: cold pelicular maceration for 12 hours to extract the smells. Fermentation at 16ºC in stainless steel deposit with autochthonous yeast, respecting the typicality from raw material.
Aged for 4 months in stainless steel tanks with fine lees.
Fatum is a funny and hedonistic wine, nice, fresh, well equilibrated between alcohol grade and acidity, a wine to enjoy, made from a really quality grapes and great respect for raw materials, keeping the typicality of autochthonous variety Airen, especially in mouth, and complemented with the elegance and richness from Sauvignon and the noticeable character of Macabeo. A great wine with an unbeatable quality/price ratio.

Apellation of Origin: La Mancha
Vintage’s qualification: Very good.
Varieties: Tempranillo and Bobal
Vineyard age: from 20 to 35 years old, located in Pozoamargo (Cuenca). The vineyard is worked in a traditional viticulture, almost ecologic and with low yield per plant, around 15 Hl/ha. The wine is elaborated with excellent raw material, using only the best and balanced grapes.
Types of soil: lime and clay soils, poor in nutrients and formed with pebbles, which afford good drainage.
Grape harvested in September, from 5th to 30th. Each area is harvested when each variety reach their optimum state of ripeness, vintage in a dry summer with leveled temperatures, and an especially rainy Spring.
Vinification: cold maceration for 4 days at 12ºC to extract the smells. Fermentation at 25ºC in stainless steel deposit with autocthonous yeast, respecting the tipicity from raw material. Spontaneus malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.
Fatum is a funny wine, nice, fresh, delicate, easy to drink, a wine to enjoy, made from a really quality grapes and great respect for raw materials, keeping the tipicity of autocthonous varieties, tempranillo and bobal. A great wine with an unbeatable quality/price ratio..

Profile: Assemblage of diferent grape varieties with great personality, where the ageing integrates the singularity of each varietal.
A brilliant cherry colour, with deep-red rivets. Highly expressive and complex aroma, where the red fruit comes out with spicy nuances and minerals marked by the singularity of the terroir. Smooth and elegant in the mouth, with a granulated texture of tanins which gives it a fine, sweet touch. The end is fresh and persistent.
Varieties: Red Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Syrah.
Ageing: 14 months in french Oak barrels.
Production: 10.000 bottles/annum

In 2009, Jordi Portillo started BIG5 Wines.  After working as an export manager for several wineries in the Penedés and Priorat, Jordi realized there were many boutique wineries in Spain without the opportunity to offer their wines to the international market.  To address this issue, Jordi created BIG5; a place where different family wineries throughout Spain could join together to export to the international market..

 In 2009, we began with 5 wineries (hence the name).  Today or portfolio has grown to offer more than 40 wines.  In every one of them, when you open the bottle, you will feel the passion, soul, and dedication of these family wineries. 

In addition to insuring the quality of our wines, we aim to provide seamless service to our customers.  We offer wines in many different price ranges, from different regions, and in many different styles.  We also have the ability to consolidate orders from the different wineries in one place making transportation faster, cheaper, and easier.  We also provide commercial support for all of the projects in the portfolio to our customers around the world.
