Mandorlaia Riserva

Morellino di Scansano DOCG

The most representative traditional wine of Massi di Mandorlaia.
The specific care for “Mandorlaia Riserva” starts in the vineyards, mainly by dramatically cutting down the production per plant
to priviledge concentration. “Mandorlaia” Riserva matures for two years in oak barriques and casks.

Grape Varieties: Sangiovese 85%, Alicante, Merlot, Cabernet 15%
Wine Making Process: fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature of 28-29°C, 15-18 days maceration.
Maturing and Aging: in French oak (Allier)barriques for at least 24 months then in bottle.
Alcohol: 13.5 – 14.5 % Vol.
Tasting Notes: intriguing thickness of the intense ruby colour with purple reflex
slightly turning to garnet, complex sents of leather, tobacco and
black-berry, smooth impressive body sustained by structured
and balanced silky tannins, long sweet finish with fudge
and mocha notes.

About us

Company details

I am a Tuscan wine and oil producer and, like other Tuscan producers who go back many generations, I am confronted every day with the legacy of centuries and the evolution of time . I believe that when love for your estate, vineyards and olive groves is transmitted generation after generation, it gets into your DNA. The heritage of CASTELLO DI POPPIANO in Chianti Colli Fiorentini, represents to me the tradition of the Guicciardini since the XI century . I felt the need to create something new, setting up from scratch the estate MASSI DI MANDORLAIA in Morellino di Scansano, in Maremma (the southern coastal area of Tuscany) . In both these estates my wife Annamaria (Titti) and myself have given much of ourselves with the desire that our love for our heritage can be transmitted to others through our products. I heartily wish Bernardo , my nephew and adopted son and to his son Paolino to continue this way with the same passion. We take pleasure in welcoming you into our website, and invite you to learn more about us, our people, estates, wines and olive oil.
