Recioto di Soave

Made from specific parcels in the designated Cru vineyard of Costeggiola where over the years we have recognised grapes from these parcels as being particularly suitable for drying after harvest, thanks to the vineyard’s exposure, the age of the vines and the low productivity per vine.

The grapes of Garganega are selected from pergola vineyards in the central and low part of Costeggiola. Planted between 1960 and 1998, the vines produce excellent quality grapes. We select between 7% and 50% (rarely) of the grapes from the vines, usually around a third of the total product.The grapes are dried in wooden boxes in the “ fruttaio” of Costeggiola for between three and five months, depending on the vintage.We recommend this dessert wine served chilled (12-14° C or 54-57° F) with desserts such as lemon meringue, sponge cakes or short crust pastry.

Ageing potential: 10 years or more if correctly cellared

Prosecco

Prosecco has been a well known wine for several centuries, even the Romans recorded their enjoyment of the wine. However, it was not until after the scourge of Phylloxera that the grape’s suitability for sparkling wine was discovered and its subsequent rise in popularity saw major cities such as Venice become capitivated by the new style.

Prosecco is today one of the world’s most  famous sparkling wine and ours is made from grapes grown in the moderate climate surrounding the hills of Treviso in the Veneto region.

It is light, soft and refreshing with crisp citrus flavors and is best served chilled (6-8° C or 43-46° F) as an aperitif before the meal or with light lunches, especially good with shortbread or soft herbal cheeses.

Ageing potential: up to 1 year.

Fior di Rosa – Chiaretto Bardolino Classico DOC Spumante

Fior di Rosa, Bardolino Chiaretto is an extra dry sparkling wine is based on the red Corvina grape. The grapes are grown in our vineyards on the hills of Bardolino and Cavaion: harvested in cool conditions to maintain the aromatic freshness and fruity character of the grapes.

The name recalls the sense of lightness and delicacy of the wine, the cream of rosé, which is expressed vividly in sparkling wine.

The wine has light pink colour, fine and persistent bubbles and expresses hints of red berries with subtle spicy notes.

Vinified in stainless steel and following the “Charmat” method.

Serve chilled (6-8 °C) in aperitif, Fior di Rosa goes well antipasti and summer salads but also spicy dishes of oriental cuisine.

At Guerrieri Rizzardi, we produce estate grown fine wines from our historical estates. The relationship between our land, heritage and tradition has, for many years, moulded our philosophy, yet we never loose sight of innovation in our quest to produce a better bottle of wine.

Guerrieri Rizzardi make full use of the region’s best native grapes (Corvina, Corvinone, Garganega) but we also plant other Italian and International grape varieties including Barbera, Sangiovese, Merlot and Chardonnay due to their suitability to our soils. Guerrieri Rizzardi believes in producing wines as an expression of the soil and of the grape variety, thus enhancing the unique personality and character of each wine. Ultimately, our goal is produce wines of quality that have fruit purity, structure and are true reflections of their vineyards.

A small yield is the cornerstone of our vineyard philosophy and over the years we have reduced to a quantity level much lower than required by DOC law.

In the cellar we combine traditional practices with modern wine-making techniques but at a the minimum level of intervention. The work done in the vineyard vastly reduces what has to be done in the cellar.

At Guerrieri Rizzardi we are constantly striving to produce a better bottle of wine from our estates and we constantly research and instigate new methods and technological advancements to achieve that goal.
In our vineyards we respect the balance of nature. We use natural compost to fertilize the vines and we keep the immediate environment in the tradition of natural plant diversity – in today’s language, biodiversity.
