Château Haut Bergeron - Sauternes & Graves

The Lamothe Family is one of the eldest on the appellation of Sauternes. Since the early 18th century, throughout the generations, the same family has been working on the property.

Patrick and Hervé Lamothe, the two brothers, are now at the head of the vineyard and are the 9th generation

 Our Sauternes wines

The size of the vineyard of Château Haut Bergeron has slightly been enlarged over the last 25 years. A very strict selection of the vines comes from Château Fontebride, neighbour of Château d’Yquem.

The surface of the property is now around 35 hectares, all spread out on top-quality soils over the communes of Sauternes close to Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Bommes and Sauternes right beside Château d’Yquem, Preignac and Barsac near Château Climens.

All the care given to the farming methods, harvest and vinification processes result in some of the best of the Sauternes wines.

The quality and consistency of the wines, year after year, have enabled the wines to obtain the best rewards in France and abroad.

Over the last 40 years, the wines of Château Haut Bergeron have won 63 Golden medals. The property has the most medal-awarded wines of the appellation.

Château Armandiere - Cahors Malbec

Parnac, at the end of the 1990’s: Bernard Bouyssou, son and grandson of cooperative members, dreamt of producing and selling is own wine himself.

In addition to his cuvee AOP CAHORS, Bernard also produces white wine from the Chenin’s grape (variety which have growned in this area a long time ago), a rosé wine made of Malbec as well as an aperitif (kind of Porto) that he leaves in barrels, in the sun during the summer. Each vintage is related to a specific soil, which provides a different yield and flavour.
“I love fleshy wines with volume and ripe tannins.”

It all started in the 18th century with boats transporting Cahors wine to Bordeaux.
Indeed, the property being situated in “Port de l’Angle” from where the boats were departing helped the business develop quickly for the Bouyssou family. This was the beginning of a new age… For more than 40 years, Bernard’s father Pierre took care of the vineyard. Since then Bernard has continued with improvements and now operates using sustainable & controlled agriculture equipment for his 25 hectares of vines, essentially planted of MALBEC.

Christophe SEMASKA - Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint Joseph, Côtes du Rhône, Coteau de Vienne

The history of CHRISTOPHE SEMASKA is linked to the revival in 1988, of a great CÔTE RÔTIE domain: le CHATEAU DE MONTLYS a gem left untouched by the 1789 Revolution.

Christophe SEMASKA hadn’t planned to become a winemaker, but his passion for fine wines and their history led him to Château de Montlys, at St Cyr sur le Rhône. This 16th-century domain, sits on a hillside facing the Rhône. A privileged location for exploiting the vines of Côte Rôtie, which today still remains the largest private domain in Côte Rôtie.

Château de Montlys, surrounded by its 8 ha of terraced vineyards, produced its last wine during the First World War of 1914/18. The Côte Rôtie « Château de Montlys » disappeared from the tables of France for 70 years, after the winemakers went off to fight during the 1914/18 war and the total devastation of the vineyards by phylloxera.

In 1988, 1ha38 of vines were replanted on rested terroir. Over the years, the vineyard has expanded and today stretches over 4ha. Throughout these years we have also developed our range to include other appellations such as CONDRIEU, ST JOSEPH, COTEAU DE VIENNE and CÔTE DU RHÔNE.

Vinification and maturation were carried out in the ancient winery of the Château and the vaulted cellars. But due to the technical and economic expansion of the wine domain, a new winery was built in 2011, at 500m away, with the best equipment for vinification, maturation, and cellaring, and a new reception and tasting facilities.

So that the love and the passion for the terroir continue to shine even brighter, Christophe SEMASKA draws on all his knowledge in detail to achieve excellence.

Domaine de Coyeux - Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Côtes du Rhône Village, Vin du Vaucluse, Muscat de Beaumes de Venise

The origin of the vineyards of Beaumes-de-Venise is very old; the history of its wines can be traced back to 600 years before Christ, when a Greek community moved into the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail.
The first vines from the Domaine de Coyeux date back to the 1950s.
The estate was taken over in 2013 by Hugues de Feraudy, whose family was already established in Vaucluse in the tenth century.

A good wine is made in the vineyard!
A good vineyard is based on simple ideas:
✓ Healthy soil, modified only by respectful contributions to the environment.

✓ Grape varieties adapted to the soil and Mediterranean climate:
• for white wines, Muscat petit grain,
• for red wines, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.

✓ Vines with excess buds and leaves removed in the spring to aerate the strains and increase the leaf’s surface area exposed to the sun.
Disbudding reduces grape production and improves the concentration of aromas.

✓ Living soils, where microbial life creates organic soil enrichment through its regular twisted paths.

✓ Healthy natural conditions (altitude, exposure, and climate) allow for gentle methods necessary to the agriculture to maintain the vineyard’s perfect health.

Domaine de Chevilly - Quincy

Our 11.30 hectares family estate is managed by Antoine and Yves Lestourgie, who were joined in 2009 by Yves’ wife,Geraldine.
We began in 1994 with 1.5 ha, and have steadily increased our planting to reach Quincy regulations, we grow only Sauvignon Blanc.

Quincy was the first of the Centre-Loire vineyards to obtain the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) status in August 1936.
The 2014 production amounted to 96,500 bottles.

Our terroir, which is mainly sandy with a few patches of clay, is ideal for this varietal, which thrives on soil that can warm rapidly and thus bring about early ripening.

We practice ‘cultural raisonnée’ which mean that we only intervene when absolutely necessary and we fully respect our environment.
To get the best from our terroir, we work the soil and grow grass down the rows, so as to reduce the vigour of the vines.

Our pruning is carried out with two objectives in mind:
- to extend the life of the plant
- to limit production in order to guarantee quality

With the same goal in mind, but depending on the circumstances of the year, we are practicing the de-budding and/or the removing green bunches of grapes as well as the thinning out of the leaves to prevent diseases and to encourage ripening.
We use the most modern techniques and equipment in our winery:
- Reception tank, sorting table and conveyor belt to the
- Pneumatic press
- Stainless steel temperature controlled tanks
- Diatomaceous filtration

We bottle both in 75cl and 37.5cl, and we offer a choice of stopper types: cork, synthetic and screw-cap.
A fully-trained oenologist helps us to obtain the best from the harvest: our goal is to reflect the fruit and the terroir in our wine.

To sum up, we have two over-riding priorities:
- To produce the best expression of Sauvignon that our terroir can offer
- To respect the environment so as to protect our terroir
