Michael Degen, Executive Director of Messe Düsseldorf and responsible for ProWein 2009, draws a very positive balance regarding the wine trade fair this year - more visitors, content exhibitors and a trade fair, whose trends such as cool climate wines give the branch a positive outlook into the future.

ProWein proves it - wine is healthy as long as one knows how to enjoy it properly: Not too much of it at once and best accompanied by good cuisine. The European programme "Wine in Moderation, Art de Vivre” wants to prevent alcohol misuse and renders moderate wine consumption to be fashionable. At ProWein in Duesseldorf he is currently launching his latest brand of sparkling wine, a Brut de Loire. It is a true world premiere, something very different from the habitual red carpets.

Vintage Cocktails: retro-design drinks

Meininger Publishing's FIZZZ Lounge travels historical paths this year. Un-der the motto "Vintage Cocktails", classic drinks of past decades are presented. Bartender legend Bill Deck and his son, David, from Pusser's in Munich, mix cocktails from the old days, as well as their contemporary interpretations. Bill Deck is considered a trailblazer of the classic American bar in Germany. He brought the idea to Germany more than 30 years ago and opened Pusser's in Munich. Andy Warhol was a guest here and enjoyed "old school mixing" by Bill Deck—classic, conservative, classy and elegant.

Daily presenations at 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm and 4 pm.

Wine’s best friends

Delikatessen zum Wein 
Delicatessen and wine are the definite dream team for every epicure. Especially for the specialised retailers amongst the ProWein visitors, the product range at the gallery in hall 6 is a real insider’s tip. Here, they will find not only a plethora of interesting ideas for product line design but also a host of information on the individual products and their interplay with wine.

About 30 well-known producers and importers are participating in this year’s presentation “Wine’s best friends”. In addition to the finest olive oils, aceto balsamicos and pâtés, one will find delectable jams, gourmet sauces, precious chocolate creations or unusual spice pastes.
