VIP visit to ProWein 2005 trade fair: His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark is here

His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark will be visiting the trade fair on Sunday. And this is no surprise. Prince Henrik, born Henri Marie Jean André Graf de Laborde de Monpezat in southern France on 06/11/1934, is an oenophile and wine expert. Among his possessions is the Chateau de Caix in the wine region of Cahors in southwest France. The ProWein exhibitor (George S.A. Vigouroux/ Hall 5, Stand B 55) sells these wines worldwide. Further, Prince Henrik will be awarded on Saturday evening the wine award “Wine Gourmet of the Year” in the Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg. The Wein Gourmet Magazine from the Jahreszeiten Verlag (publishing house) will be awarding this distinction for the third time.

Prince Henrik lived in what is now called Vietnam until he was five years old, before the family returned to Cayrou in Cahors/ southern France in 1939. He studied law and politics in Paris at the Sorbonne and at the same time learned Chinese and Vietnamese. He decided to pursue a diplomatic carrier and His Royal Highness worked among others in the Asian Department of the French Foreign Ministry and was Secretary of the French Embassy in London from 1963 until 1967. In 1967, he married the Danish Successor to the Throne, Queen Margrethe II.
