Cologne, Tel Aviv in January 2015 - Israel's top wineries will exhibit at the "ProWein 2015" in Düsseldorf, with the best that this fine wine country has to offer. At the joint booth 09 E78, you will find 7 major Israeli wineries: Carmel, Yatir, Recanati, Teperberg1870, Tabor, Golan Heights and Galil Mountain.
A varied wine-tasting program will be performed at the booth, with top-class moderators. Master of Wine Caro Maurer and the 3-star sommelier and journalist Romana Echensperger will tantalize you with the fascinating diversity of Israeli wines.
Over the last few decades, Israel, the proverbial land of milk and honey, olives and oranges, has also become one of the most exciting wine countries of the world, with more than 5000 years old history of wine growing. The vineyards stretch from the northern Galilee, through the Carmel Mountains and the Jerusalem Mountains down to the Negev Desert.
Geographically, Israel belongs to the eastern Mediterranean and with 5,500 hectares of vineyards, it offers a unique variety of different terroirs and microclimates. In the past the classical varietals were mainly the known and popular French ones: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carignan, but in the last decade, a major shift was made towards cultivating varietals that suit Israel’s very special mediterranean climate such as: Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache, Sangiovese, Malbec, Marselan and many more. This major change occurred also in the white varietals, adding to the classical varietals such as: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc different varieties such as: Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, Marssanne, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Viognier and more.
There are about 250 commercial wineries that produce impressive wines. The main export markets are the USA, France and Germany. For some years now, Israeli quality wines have been met with wide – and growing - appreciation by international wine critics and wine guides such as Mundus Vini, Decanter, IWSC, Citadelles du Vin, Robert Parker and Wine Spectator, which give them high scores and awards.
The Israeli wineries at the joint stand invite you to discover one of the most exciting and dynamic wine countries in the world.
