The programme of events for exhibitors at ProWein 2006 will be as varied as the product range at the fair itself. International trade visitors from the retail and restaurant/catering trade will be able to gain a market overview and smell and taste the trends first hand. Varietal tastings from interna-tional wine-producing regions will alternate with presentations on current consumer trends while top wine waiters will present the “Wine & Culinaria“ duo and trade-oriented marketing will be discussed alongside current themes on the global wine market.
The German Wine Institute (DWI), the conceptual sponsor of ProWein, will be presenting numerous activities at its modern, new-look stand (Hall 4, Stand G 86) which will be very much in tune with the forthcoming 2006 World Cup. In its World Cup Lounge featuring real football turf the DWI will show visitors how wine truly embodies the World Cup motto “Time to make Friends“. The 100 or so official World Cup wines will be on display here, some of which will be available for tasting.
The new DWI stand also features an activities area for wine producers’ as-sociations. Eight groups from five wine-growing areas will be presented here. These include one of the earliest associations called the “Fünf Freunde“ from the Palatinate region. Though new organisations will also be presented here such as the “Der klitzekleine Ring“. This is a group of eleven Mosel wine growers who are dedicated, amongst other things, to the conservation of the cultural landscape and who organise culinary events. The presentations will be hosted by the German Wine Queen Sylvia Benzinger.
